KiwiKricket Installation Guide

PVC & Aluminium Roof Water Diverters

Follow these six simple steps to install KiwiKricket correctly.

Tools & Materials

Before beginning installation, ensure you have the following:

  • KiwiKricket roof water diverter
  • Compatible neutral-cure roofing silicone sealant
  • Silicone applicator gun
  • Permanent marker or suitable marking pencil
  • Clean cloth or rag
  • Suitable roofing surface cleaner
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Safety Precautions

  • Work safely: Roof work presents serious fall hazards. Use appropriate fall protection and safe access equipment.
  • Professional installation: Installation should be carried out by a competent person familiar with roofing systems and safe working practices.
  • Weather conditions: Avoid installation during rain, strong winds or unsuitable weather conditions.
  • Surface preparation: Ensure the installation area is clean, dry and structurally sound.
  • Material compatibility: Confirm the silicone is suitable for the KiwiKricket material, roof surface and existing coatings.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions: Observe all sealant application, ventilation and curing requirements.

Step 1: Trace KiwiKricket

Position KiwiKricket on the uphill side of the roof penetration, with the centre point facing uphill.

Using a suitable marker, carefully trace the outline of KiwiKricket onto the roofing surface.

Step 2: Clean the Surface

Remove KiwiKricket and thoroughly clean the marked installation area.

Ensure the surface is dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and other contaminants that could affect adhesion.

Step 3: Apply Silicone

Apply a continuous bead of compatible roofing silicone approximately 15-20 mm inside the traced outline, following the angled sides.

Apply an additional bead along the centre line to provide adhesion and support beneath the raised section.

Follow the sealant manufacturer's instructions for application and compatibility.

Step 4: Position KiwiKricket

Carefully place KiwiKricket onto the silicone beads, aligning it with the traced outline.

Press firmly and evenly to ensure proper contact with the sealant.

Check that KiwiKricket is correctly positioned before proceeding.

Step 5: Seal the Outside Perimeter

Apply a continuous bead of compatible roofing silicone around the entire outside perimeter of KiwiKricket.

Ensure all external edges and corners are sealed without gaps.

Smooth the silicone to create a neat, continuous finish.

Step 6: Clean and Inspect

Remove excess silicone and inspect the completed installation.

Check that KiwiKricket is correctly aligned, securely positioned and fully sealed around its perimeter.

Ensure water can flow freely around both sides of the diverter.

Allow the silicone to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions before testing.

Important Installation Notes

  • Use a roofing silicone compatible with KiwiKricket and the roofing surface.
  • KiwiKricket is a water-diversion accessory and does not replace correctly installed roof flashing.
